A new camping season is here, and as a new month begins, experts from the camping industry are joining the conversation once more in another open discussion episode of Modern Campground Fireside Chats.
Every first Wednesday of the month, special guests attend the online show to exchange ideas, various updates, and commentary from the outdoor hospitality industry.
For the June 1 episode, back on the Fireside Chats to join the conversation are Campspot Director of Business Development Casey Cochran, United Park Brokers Founder & CEO Randy Hendrickson, CampgroundViews.com Founder & CEO Mark Koep, and American Glamping Association Co-Founder Ruben Martinez.
Also returning for the open discussion episode are Sandy Ellingson, an RV industry consultant, and Ivar Mensink who is the co-founder of Germany-based Camping Dreams.
In last month’s episode, Mensink joined the show for the first time. He will be part of the regular guests for the open discussion show moving forward.
“I hope here that two worlds will meet a little bit because I think it’s so different. It is going to be quite exciting,” he said.
He also shared some things about the current camping scene in Europe. Noting some differences, Ivar said that pitches in Europe are smaller mainly because their RVs are smaller as well compared to the rigs found in the United States and Canada.
Meanwhile, Hendrickson suggested that with glamping’s explosion in the U.S. throughout the pandemic, returning European travelers will find better outdoor accommodation offerings than what was available pre-pandemic.
“With the last couple of years, with COVID, there has no been European travel to the states. Whereas previously, that was quite big. My sense is that there’s pent-up demand from European travelers to start traveling back to the states and when they start traveling here again, they’re gonna see much better glamping resorts, higher level of fit and finish, and better accommodations,” said the founder and CEO of United Park Brokers.
“At least my thinking [is], the European influx back into the states after a couple of years of absence could be pretty significant,” he added.
For next month’s show, Mensink, Hendrickson, Ellingson, Cochran, and more will be back to embark on another episode filled with meaningful conversations about the outdoor hospitality industry.
