OHI to Offer Exclusive CPO Certification Training for Campground Pool Safety

OHI is offering a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification Training on September 24 and 25, exclusively for its members. Led by Terry Munoz, OHI Board Member and Certified Pool Instructor, this two-day course aims to help campground operators ensure pool safety and meet regulatory standards.

The virtual training will be held via Zoom from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Central Time) on both days. Participants need a computer with internet access and Zoom capabilities, including a camera for interactive sessions.

“Make sure you and your staff are ready for any upcoming pool season by securing Certified Pool Operator Certifications. This two-day online course will ensure you and your staff know the critical information to operate your pool, provide proper water safety, and ensure compliance with local and state regulations,” OHI explained.

According to a press release, the CPO certification, provided by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), is recognized as a credential in pool and spa training. PHTA reports that this certification is acknowledged by local and state authorities as a “credible pool safety credential.”

The certification, valid for five years, will equip participants with the knowledge to manage pools more effectively, reduce operational risks, and comply with safety regulations.

Each year, more than 30,000 professionals complete this program, gaining insights into maintaining safer aquatic facilities. Campground operators who complete the course will also earn 16 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) recognized by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).

The training covers essential topics, including pool operation, water safety standards, and compliance with local and state regulations. It focuses on mitigating risks such as chemical, electrical, biological, and physical hazards, which are crucial for campground pools. Participants will also learn strategies for improving efficiency, potentially lowering operational costs and enhancing safety for guests and employees.

For campground operators, proper pool management is important for guest satisfaction and for maintaining regulatory compliance. For more information about OHI, visit ohi.org.
