Registration has opened for the April 7-8 Certified Pool & Spa Operator Certification Training, a two-day virtual course aimed at preparing outdoor hospitality operators for the upcoming pool season.
The training will be held via Zoom from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST on April 7 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST on April 8.
The program is offered at a discounted rate for active members of the outdoor hospitality industry and is designed to address pool operations, water safety and regulatory compliance before facilities reopen.
The course will be led by Terry Munoz, a certified pool operator and outdoor hospitality certified professional, who serves on both the OHI Board and the OHI Foundation Board.
Munoz is also a Certified Pool Instructors professional. The instruction focuses on operational standards and compliance requirements that apply to aquatic amenities in outdoor hospitality settings.
The certification is issued through the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, whose Certified Pool & Spa Operator credential is recognized by local and state authorities.
According to the announcement, more than 30,000 professionals complete the program each year.
“Proper pool operation and water safety are essential for every outdoor hospitality business offering aquatic amenities,” Terry Munoz, CPO, OHC, said in a press release.
“This training equips operators and their staff with an understanding of the critical components of compliance and safety before welcoming guests back for the season,” Munoz added.
The course is conducted entirely online and is priced at a flat fee of $390 for active OHI members.
While most states accept virtual Certified Pool & Spa Operator training, participants are advised to confirm any additional requirements with their local health departments.
OHI stated that the training is offered once prior to the start of pool season and requires shipment of course materials, prompting the organization to encourage early registration.
