OHI Opens 2026 Board Nominations

OHI has opened nominations for its 2026 Board of Directors election, with five seats available and a nomination period running from May 4 through May 28 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

OHI is inviting campground owners, operators, suppliers, associates, and other industry stakeholders to participate by submitting either self-nominations or peer nominations, expanding the pool of candidates shaping its leadership.

The call for nominations follows a formal board assessment that identified gaps in geographic representation, industry segments, and professional skill sets, informing the qualifications sought in this election cycle.

According to the organization, priority consideration will be given to candidates with experience as park owners or operators in the western United States, as well as individuals representing small, family-owned, or corporate parks and those from the vendor and supplier community.

The board is also seeking a balance between experienced industry professionals and emerging leaders, reflecting a broader effort to diversify perspectives within its governance structure.

Preferred areas of expertise include financial management, nonprofit revenue strategy, strategic planning, customer acquisition and retention, and long-term organizational vision, though these are not mandatory requirements.

“This is one of the most direct ways someone in our industry can have a real say in where our organization is headed. We’re looking for people who care about this industry and want to be in the room where decisions are made,” said Paul Bambei, president and CEO of OHI.

Bambei added, “If that sounds like you, or someone you know, now is the time to step forward.”

Newly elected board members will take office during a period in which the organization is pursuing six strategic priorities over the next three years, including membership growth, enhanced advocacy efforts, and organizational innovation.

Additional priorities include long-term sustainability, increased engagement with members, and maintaining strong governance and leadership practices.

Following the nomination period, candidates will undergo vetting and interviews over the summer, with the official ballot scheduled for release on August 12.

Online voting for eligible campground members will run from September 14 at noon Eastern Time through October 1 at noon Eastern Time, with election results announced October 6 and new board members sworn in on November 11.
