General RV Center, the nation’s largest family-owned RV dealer, is set to break ground on its first dealership in North Carolina. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15, marking a new chapter in the company’s expansion strategy.
The new dealership will be situated in Salisbury, North Carolina, approximately 40 miles north of Charlotte. This will be the 16th supercenter for the Michigan-based company, which has a strong presence across the country with dealerships in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Utah, and Pennsylvania.
The groundbreaking event will be attended by General RV representatives, Rowan County and city officials, and community leaders, all of whom will celebrate the commencement of construction, according to a media advisory.
The media is invited to attend the ceremony, providing an opportunity to engage with General RV representatives and local leaders about the RV industry and the economic impact the new store will have on Rowan County.
The new dealership represents a significant investment in the local economy. General RV is expected to invest an estimated $25 million in real property improvements and equipment in Rowan County.
The dealership, once operational, is projected to create more than 150 full-time jobs with an average salary of $65,000. The construction and development phase is also expected to generate an additional 66 indirect and induced jobs within the community.
The economic benefits extend beyond direct employment. General RV’s estimated 10,000 annual customers will likely spend an average of six hours in local shops, restaurants, and attractions, resulting in approximately $740,000 of annual visitor spending.
The new supercenter will be located on a 40-acre site and will feature a 71,000 sq. ft. building with space to house 700 RVs on the lot. The facility will also include 34 service bays, including a 6-bay body shop. Notably, the site has a stream running through it, and two bridges will be built to cross it.
The location of the new supercenter is strategic. It is situated approximately 40 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 20 miles east of Mooresville, North Carolina, known as “Race City USA” due to its status as the home of many NASCAR racing teams and drivers, along with an IndyCar team and its drivers, as well as racing technology suppliers.
Founded in Michigan in 1962, General RV Center has established itself as the nation’s premier RV dealer. The company operates 14 full-service dealerships, offering a large selection of RVs for sale, RV service facilities, and retail RV parts and accessories. The upcoming North Carolina dealership is expected to open in 2024.
According to information available on the company’s website, General RV Center is committed to providing a premier purchase experience, personalized delivery and orientation, and complete ownership support.
The company’s expansion into North Carolina is a testament to its commitment to bringing world-class, award-winning service to new communities.
