Wilkins RV Completes Acquisition of Jim’s RV Center, Expands to 7 Stores

Wilkins Recreational Vehicles, Inc. announced that it has completed an agreement to acquire Jim’s RV Center and will shortly acquire their operations located in Nichols, New York.

“We are proud and excited to take over and build upon the proud heritage that has been built by Jim’s RV and its employees. They have a great customer following, and we look forward to supporting that customer base and continuing the growth they have experienced for over sixty years,” said Brian Wilkins, President of Wilkins RV.

From a strategic standpoint, this move allows us to increase our presence in the Binghamton and northern Pennsylvania market and better serve our current customers in that market,” Wilkins said.

It has been our privilege and pleasure to have served the RV market in the Southern Tier of New York and Northern Tier of Pennsylvania for over sixty years. We want to thank the many thousands of customers who have trusted Jim’s RV Center to fulfill their RV needs, and we are confident that Wilkins RV will continue to meet those expectations. We also want to express our gratitude to all of our talented and dedicated employees, without whom we would not be the organization that we are today. We are certain that Wilkins RV will take both our employees and customers to new heights,” said Scott Jewell, President of Jim’s RV Center.

Wilkins and Jewell anticipate seeing the transaction completed by May 31.

Charles Wilkins founded Wilkins RV in 1936 in Hornell, New York, as an auto detail shop. Charles and his son Ronald began selling RVs in the late fifties, and Ron managed the business until selling it to his son and current owner, Brian, in 2004.

Wilkins RV moved from Hornell to a 50,000 square foot dealer situated in Bath, New York, in 2006, then expanded to its second location located in Churchville, in 2011 they opened their third and fourth locations in Victor and Brewerton in 2017 and added their 5th and 6th locations in Fulton & Clay, last fall.

Jim Jewell founded Jim’s RV Center in 1952 as a sporting goods store in Waverly. Jim started selling boats, motors, and eventually RVs in the coming years. As the business expanded, he relocated to a larger facility in Sayre, Pennsylvania. In the late ’70s, Jim’s sons, Scott, Todd, and Matt, started to join the business and eventually acquired the dealership in 1987. By 2005 they had outgrown the Sayre location and moved to the current 35,000 square foot location on 16 acres in Nichols, New York.
