A new way of adventuring awaits as Letchworth State Park (New York) hosts its first annual Outdoor Rec Fest on September 10 at the Humphrey Nature Center.
The Outdoor Rec Fest will highlight the outdoor recreation opportunities that Letchworth State Park and the surrounding Genesee Valley offer.
According to Letchworth State Park’s Facebook page, park-goers can enjoy hands-on demonstrations about geocaching, hiking, packing a backcountry pack, gourmet campfire cooking, hot air ballooning, adaptive fishing equipment, and other hospitality options in and around the park as a base of adventure.
Known as the Grand Canyon of the East, Letchworth State Park is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S.
Letchworth offers nature, history, performing arts programs, guided walks, tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, a pool for swimming, and hot air ballooning.
The park also offers tents, trailer campsites, and cabins. Group camping facilities are also available.
Letchworth State Park’s amenities include biking, equestrian trails, fishing, hunting, Nature Center, playgrounds, showers, a swimming pool, and more.
As per the Wyoming County Tourism website, over the last decade, businesses and services like outdoor outfitters, campgrounds, nature preserves, hospitality destinations, adaptive recreation equipment specialists, and an ADA-compliant nature trail have rapidly grown in the Genesee Valley–turning the region from a rustic hidden gem into one of New York State’s most accommodating outdoor adventure destinations.
The one-day festival gathers over 30 businesses, agencies, and services to be demonstrators and activity leaders for the day–providing experiences and learning opportunities for all park visitors to hike, kayak, camp, glamp, fish, dine, tree tent, whitewater raft, trail ride, stay in historic estates, explore deep ravines and nature preserves, and more.
