Independently owned and operated campgrounds across New York have joined forces to organize a series of fundraising events in support of Camp Good Days and Special Times.

As per a report, this Mendon, N.Y.-based nonprofit organization provides free camps, special activities, and other services for children battling cancer, as well as specialized camps for adults facing specific conditions such as women’s oncology and prostate cancer.

Campgrounds affiliated with CampNewYork.com have collectively raised over $1 million for Camp Good Days over the past decade, a testament to their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of these young warriors and their families.

This summer, numerous campgrounds in New York have dedicated themselves to hosting diverse and exciting fundraising activities to support the noble cause of Camp Good Days. Let’s take a closer look at some of the notable campgrounds and their planned events.

Nickerson Catskill Mountain Campground in Gilboa has embraced a summer-long fundraising campaign for Camp Good Days, while also scheduling special events in June and July. Among these events is the unique “Camp Good Days Jail” on June 10th, where the campground will lock up participants until they either donate to be released or pay for someone to take their place. Additionally, the campground will host a variety of activities from July 28th to 30th, including a color run, silent auction, luminary sale, and a survivor celebration party. Rosemary Celelli mentioned that raffles and the park’s golf cart rentals will contribute to the overall donation as well.

Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground in Akron has something special in store for the first Saturday of August—an extravagant Camp Carnival. The day will be filled with DJ music, face painting, a corn hole tournament, a basket auction, a bounce house, various games, and even a pie-eating competition. This vibrant event promises endless fun for campers while raising funds for Camp Good Days.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Mexico, New York, has scheduled two thrilling fundraising duck races on July 15th and August 19th. Participants will cheer on their rubber ducks as they race toward the finish line, all in the name of supporting Camp Good Days.

The highlight of their fundraising efforts will be the enchanting “Night in Italy” fundraising dinner in August, featuring a fully catered Italian meal accompanied by a DJ, promising a delightful evening for a worthy cause.

Matt Anderson, a campground owner and dedicated supporter of Camp Good Days, expressed his hope that the remarkable fundraising initiatives undertaken by these campgrounds would inspire others, both within and outside the industry, to rally behind the organization’s vital mission. Anderson’s personal involvement stems from his son Noah’s battle with Kawasaki disease, which sparked his empathy for families coping with childhood cancer.

The outpouring of support from campground owners across New York showcases their deep compassion for children and their families affected by cancer, fostering an annual tradition of fundraising events to aid Camp Good Days. John Tinelli, the owner of Triple R Camping Resort and Trailer Sales in Franklinville, attests to the profound impact these efforts have, noting that their customers choose their campground due to their steadfast support for Camp Good Days.
