Nevada State Parks, Libraries Team Up to Promote Exploration and Learning

Nevada State Parks and Nevada Public Libraries have partnered to launch a new program, Library Park Pass, aimed at encouraging Nevadans to learn more about the natural beauty and history of the state, according to a report by 8News Now.

The program, which began at the start of the year, aims to not only introduce Nevadans to the state’s parks but also to promote the use of public libraries.

Under the Library Park Pass program, public library card holders can check out passes to Nevada’s 27 state parks, including Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort, Ice Age Fossils State Park (Tule Springs), Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, Valley of Fire State Park, and Big Bend of the Colorado State Park (Laughlin).

The passes allow for one day-use entrance fee for one passenger vehicle with a capacity of 8 people or less. However, the pass does not cover federal, regional, or other public lands in Nevada that are not part of the Nevada State Park system.

According to the state, the passes are funded by the Nevada State Parks Gift Shop Grant Program, which allocates the proceeds from all Nevada State Parks Gift Shop sales to educational and interpretive programs in Nevada’s State Parks.

However, park fees may still be assessed for boating, camping, or other specific fees, including special programs or tours.

The program is a great way for Nevadans to discover the natural beauty of the state while also promoting the use of public libraries.

With a valid library card, residents can check out passes and enjoy the state’s parks while also learning about the resources available at their local library.
