Black Book, a provider of recreational vehicle values guide, has released its November 2024 Recreational Vehicles Market Update, revealing continued declines in auction values for both motorhomes and towables. The report marks the second month of consecutive price drops.
“The average prices for both motorhomes and towables sold at auction decreased slightly again last month. This marks the second consecutive month of declines across the board, suggesting a probable return to normal seasonal patterns. As more new 2025 models arrive on dealers’ lots, we expect used values to trend downward as we move into colder weather,” said Eric Lawrence, principal analyst of specialty markets.
The average selling price for motorhomes, encompassing Class A, B, and C models, is now $65,973, reflecting a decrease of $2,226, or 3.4%, from the previous month. A year ago, the average selling price was $61,575, showing an overall increase despite recent declines. The auction volume for motorhomes also rose by 18.2% from the previous month, with most units sold from model year 2016.
In contrast to motorhomes, towable RV units, which include travel trailers and fifth wheels, experienced a more modest drop in auction values. The average price for towables sold last month was $18,736, down by $312, or 1.6%.
“A year ago, the average selling price was $20,138. The auction volume decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous month. The average model year for the towables sold was 2019,” a press release showed.
