Flint Creek Water Park and Campground Undergoes Extensive Renovations to Enhance Visitor Experience

Flint Creek Water Park and Campground in Wiggins is currently upgrading various amenities as part of a broader effort to improve the visitor experience.

Managed by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, the facility features a 700-acre lake alongside its water park and camping accommodations, according to an article by The Roy Howard Community Journalism Center

Michael Clark, manager of Flint Creek, noted that cabin renovations have been underway for approximately two and a half years. To date, 13 cabins and one bunkhouse have been remodeled with new flooring, paint, furniture, and appliances.

Beyond lodging improvements, the park has upgraded several existing campsites and plans to begin construction on an entirely new campground next month. Clark also highlighted plans to develop a dedicated area called “Camp Cowboy” specifically for visitors utilizing the park’s horseback riding trails.

The facility recently added an 18-hole disc golf course, enabling it to host professional tournaments scheduled for November and December. Other future projects, supported by potential federal grant funding, include repaving park roads and the construction of a pickleball court.

“We’ve got people coming back,” Clark said. “They’re liking the renovations that we’re doing and the improvements we’re making to the park. Things are looking up”.

According to Clark, interest in the park has increased alongside these developments, with some guests booking cabins and campsites up to a year in advance. Visitors should note that a Mississippi fishing license is required to utilize the 700-acre lake.

These upgrades are significant for the outdoor hospitality industry as they demonstrate how reinvesting in diverse amenities—from niche lodging like equestrian campgrounds to trending recreational additions like disc golf and pickleball—can drive repeat business and long-term bookings.

For campground owners and operators, Flint Creek’s strategy illustrates the value of maintaining a multi-year renovation pipeline to remain competitive and meet evolving guest expectations in a growing market.
