Albert Lea KOA Campground Sees Expansion

The Freeborn County Board of Commissioners (Minnesota) on Tuesday approved an expanded permit for the Albert Lea KOA campground ahead of planned growth at the development.

As per a report, Trevor Bordelon with the Environmental Services Department stated that the campground owner, Fosen Ventures LLC, is planning to add an office and store building, 36 new camping sites, a miniature golf course, pickleball courts, and a shallow pond, with a sand beach area.

The expansion is planned on the 23.31 acres north of the development.

The property’s permit has been in place since 1967.

Brian Fosen, owner, and operator of the site, said he bought the campground last year. He decided to expand the site after having to refuse people last year due to the capacity of the campground. He also mentioned that some full-time RVers want to stay longer.

The campground is currently home to 70 campsites.

Foss said there needed to be more things to do at the site, and the expansion would be beneficial and bring more traffic to the area.

Foss estimated that all improvements would be completed in five years, with 18 new campsites coming the next year.
