The Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) is encouraging campgrounds to participate in its September Compete for Kids Challenge, a fundraising effort benefiting Care Camps.
The challenge is underway as September reaches its midpoint, with PCOA calling on additional campgrounds to participate and raise funds for children with cancer and their families.
Through Care Camps, children with cancer can attend camp while continuing to receive the medical treatment they need, according to PCOA.
Their families can also attend, allowing them to spend time together and take a break from the challenges associated with childhood cancer. Participation is provided at no cost to the families.
PCOA said contributions do not need to be large to make a difference, emphasizing the collective impact of campground participation in the fundraising effort.
“Let’s show everyone what the PCOA campground community can do!” PCOA said in its announcement encouraging members to sign up for the September challenge.
Seven campgrounds have already registered for the Compete for Kids Challenge: Camp-A-While Campground, Driftstone Campground, Hemlock Campground of Potter County, Mountain Vista Campground, Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Shady Grove Campground and Twin Bridge Campground.
PCOA is encouraging other campgrounds to join those participating properties during the September fundraising campaign.
The initiative is intended to demonstrate what the campground community can accomplish through collective contributions, with funds supporting opportunities for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
“Every dollar raised helps make possible safe and accessible camp experiences for children with cancer across the United States and Canada, all at no cost to families,” the event’s details indicate.
