The historic Marble Springs Campground in Allen Township is set to receive extensive revitalization following its recent acquisition by the Joswiak family. Ken and Stacy Joswiak, owners of Southern Michigan RV in Hillsdale, announced their plans to enhance and restore the 50-acre property, which has served the community for nearly a century.
The Joswiaks, who have been in the RV business for over four years, had been searching for a campground to purchase, and were pleased to find one within the local area. Stacy, who originally envisioned owning a motel or bed and breakfast, shared how the family’s dream evolved with their business, leading them toward campground ownership.
Marble Springs Campground holds a unique place in Michigan’s landscape, featuring a rare blue spring. The Joswiaks plan to restore these water features, including cleaning the ponds and reintroducing trout, to revive the area’s natural ecosystems.
“On these 52 acres you can view Michigan’s only Blue Spring. This spring along with several other springs feeds all 4 ponds that are connected by free-flowing streams. This is only one of 16 springs located on the property,” the campground indicated on its website.
In addition to water restoration, the campground will undergo various maintenance projects. The Joswiaks intend to repair the existing dam, ensuring the lakes, streams, and springs on the property return to their full potential. The property’s unique flora, with non-native tree species scattered throughout, adds to its appeal as a natural summer getaway.
According to an article published by Hillsdale Daily News, plans also include the refurbishment of a stone fireplace, originally built by the campground’s founder, adding a historic touch for visitors to enjoy. The Joswiaks aim to provide a range of recreational options, including camper rentals, tent camping, and amenities like a swimming pool, playground, restrooms, and a small store.
“It’s going to be a campground. We’re also going to have rentals on the property that will be available. We’re going to start selling campers at the front of the property. We’re going to open up tent camping again on the property,” Ken said.
The campground aims to reopen in the spring, offering guests refreshed amenities and improved facilities.
