Lake Antoine Park Partners (LAPP) is gearing up for its fourth annual Lights at the Lake event, set to illuminate Lake Antoine Park campground from November 28 through December 31, according to an article by Iron Mountain Daily News.
“The popularity [rose] over the past three years, with more than 3,000 cars driving through the campground and park last year,” said Ann Hruska, LAPP Treasurer. This year, the organization has expanded its offerings, providing 63 designated campsites for local businesses and organizations to create festive light displays.
Participants can reserve up to two campsites for their displays, with each lot priced at $40, including an electrical post. However, interested parties should act quickly, as only about 20 sites are currently available.
The setup process will begin in October, allowing ample time for participants to create their displays before the event’s opening. “We begin early, as it’s really hard to pound stakes in frozen ground,” Hruska noted. LAPP has also planned a Holiday Open House event for December 15, with the possibility of a special appearance by Santa Claus. Admission to view the decorations remains free, making it an accessible holiday activity for all.
For those looking to participate, LAPP encourages early planning to ensure a standout display. Everyone is encouraged to begin planning displays now and determine how to best shine a light on their organization.
Participants are responsible for providing their own outdoor-rated lights, cords, and timers. “LAPP is happy to answer questions and provide tips on creating a successful display.” Interested parties can reach out to [email protected] for more information.
In addition to the campsite displays, LAPP will be decorating the campground entrance, adding to the festive atmosphere. The public will once again have the opportunity to vote for their favorite display in the “People’s Choice Award” competition. This year, prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, adding an extra element of excitement for participants and visitors alike. Hruska commented on the event’s popularity, saying, “Feedback from the community indicates they enjoy watching the displays get bigger and better every year.”
For those interested in participating or learning more about the event, information and registration forms are available at lakeantoine.org. Alternatively, forms can be printed from the website or obtained from the campground store at Lake Antoine Park. Completed forms, along with the $40 fee, can be mailed to LAPP, P.O. Box 609, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
As the event approaches, the online availability map will be updated to reflect the remaining sites, allowing potential participants to stay informed about the opportunities still available for creating their holiday displays.
