In a recent press release, Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) announced the newest beneficiaries of its prestigious KOA Campground of the Future Grant. This initiative, which is open to all KOA campgrounds, is designed to propel the outdoor hospitality industry into the future by supporting innovative and forward-thinking projects.
This year, four campgrounds have been selected to receive the grant. The Seward Alaska KOA Journey will use the funds to introduce a unique three-tiered tent structure. This innovative design aims to maximize vertical space, offering guests breathtaking views of the Alaskan landscape and a prime spot to observe a nearby bald eagle nest.
Meanwhile, the Butte KOA Journey in Montana has eco-friendly aspirations. They plan to incorporate water catchment sculptures reminiscent of Butte’s iconic mine headframes. Additionally, they will establish an outdoor classroom space for community gatherings, emphasizing the importance of eco-awareness and conservation.
Over in Utah, the Vernal/Dinosaurland KOA Holiday is focusing on enhancing the camping experience for pet owners. They’re set to revamp their standard camping cabins with a range of pet-centric amenities, ensuring that both guests and their furry friends feel right at home.
Lastly, the Lancaster/New Holland KOA Journey in Pennsylvania is taking significant steps toward sustainability. They plan to install 728 SunPower Solar Panels, which are projected to cover the campground’s entire electricity consumption, setting a new standard in eco-friendly energy practices within the industry.
Doug Mulvaney, the assistant vice president of campground design service for KOA, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting projects that push the boundaries of traditional outdoor hospitality. “Our franchise partners have incredible ideas and ingenuity that we are happy to help foster and grow,” Mulvaney said.
He further emphasized the success of the grant program, stating, “This grant program has resulted in many forward-looking ideas that have become reality, proving that KOA continues to be the leader in the outdoor hospitality industry.
Launched in 2020, the Campground of The Future Grant program has consistently encouraged innovative concepts, steering the outdoor hospitality industry toward a more sustainable and enriching future.
