THOR Industries’ Learn, Engage, Achieve, Perform (LEAP) Program team is all geared up to provide immersive RV industry education to students for the 2022-2023 academic year.
According to its website, LEAP is THOR’s initiative toward providing education to students by bringing them THOR Industries associates and teaching students RV business management, product design, engineering, manufacturing, and more.
LEAP is a hands-on and innovative initiative for students in Indiana where THOR Industries is located.
In a LinkedIn post, Rick Schutt, THOR’s director of community engagement announced that 32 school visits are already scheduled for the fall in Elkhart County.
“We can’t wait to engage with local students to share what THOR and the RV Industry has to offer!” Schutt said.
The program offers three curriculum levels, the fifth grade, eighth grade, and high school. Each curriculum is interactive and educational to provide a better learning experience for students.
LEAP challenges students to solve problems that could be encountered in a manufacturing facility or in an engineering office.
As per the LEAP website, 6,700 students have been reached, with 100% of school districts in Elkhart County, Indiana participating.
For the fifth-grade curriculum, students will be introduced to the RV industry and learn about THOR’s role in the community. Students will learn leadership skills, tour RVs, and work together to build Lego RVs.
For the eighth grade curriculum, students will be assigned projects, introduced to lean manufacturing, participate in problem-solving activities, and receive an initial look into RV-related career pathways.
Meanwhile, high school students will be working directly with THOR’s subsidiaries to prepare for a career in the RV Industry.
