Horizon Outdoors Launches Field Guide, Training Platform

Horizon Outdoor Hospitality, a Denver-based outdoor hospitality management and services firm, announces the launch of the Horizon Field Guide. It will be hosted in the outdoor hospitality industry’s first online training, policy, and procedure platform.

The Horizon Field Guide is a client-exclusive comprehensive training and resource system designed to bring uniformity and consistency to operating procedures, policies, and best practices.

“After more than a year in development and built on our team’s combined 150 years of hospitality management expertise, we’re excited to announce the launch of Horizon Field Guide,” Scott Foos, CEO and Co-Owner of Horizon Outdoor Hospitality, said. 

“Since 2004, Operations Management has been the backbone of our Third-party Management and Consulting Services, but we’ve recognized the need for the evolution and standardization of these standard operating procedures to meet the growing demand our clients are facing,” Foos continued.

The field guide was developed by Horizon’s industry experts, including Shari Disher, Vice President of Operations, and Ginny Therrien, Director of Training. The training and resource system encompasses the core operational components of Horizon’s managed properties, including guest experience, front desk, facilities, housekeeping, risk management, activities and recreation, and food and beverage. The Horizon Field Guide is hosted in an online training and resource platform that ensures each onsite team member receives consistent and thorough training relevant to their role. New modules are continuously being added and pushed to onsite teams. 

“We’re in the process of concluding beta testing at select locations and intend to launch Field Guide across our national portfolio in Q1 2022,” says Shari Disher, Horizon’s VP of Operations and a major contributor to the project. Horizon has invested in additional corporate staffing resources to support the launch, including Therrien, Director of Training with more than three decades of experience, and Ashley Turner, Project Manager for Field Guide.

Isn’t it cool how the Horizon Field Guide covers sustainability and safety besides operations? I like how clients can personalize training plans and track progress. It feels interactive and engaging!
