Camping.care has entered a strategic partnership with Molecaten that will provide the campsite software company with access to growth capital and add industry expertise to its board as it prepares for international expansion.
Under the agreement, Molecaten will provide a flexible financial framework giving Camping.care immediate access to capital to finance its scaling operations.
Ton de Rooij will also join Camping.care’s Board of Directors on behalf of Molecaten.
De Rooij will focus on optimizing Camping.care’s organizational structure as the company expands internationally. He brings decades of industry experience, according to the company.
“What convinced us was the combination of a strong product and a driven team,” de Rooij said in a press release. “Molecaten understands better than anyone what parks and campsites need and we can now put that knowledge to work directly to build Camping.care into a platform the industry can rely on.”
The partnership is intended to provide greater long-term stability for existing and prospective customers as outdoor hospitality operators continue to adopt digital systems.
Roel Masselink, co-founder of Camping.care, said customers and prospects had previously questioned the company’s long-term viability and whether they could invest in the business to strengthen their relationship with the platform.
“We frequently received questions from customers and prospects asking, ‘How do I know that Camping.care will still exist in 5 years?’ or ‘Can I invest in Camping.care to strengthen our partnership?’” Masselink said. “With this partnership, we have definitively answered those questions, ensuring both our short- and long-term stability.”
The agreement also establishes governance provisions intended to maintain Camping.care’s independence and protect customer data. Molecaten will have no access to data belonging to other campsites or parks that use the platform, according to the company.
Camping.care founders Arjen and Roel will retain majority rights within the board and remain in control of decision-making.
The partnership also leaves open the possibility of additional outdoor hospitality companies joining the cooperation in the future. Camping.care said the structure is intended to support a broader coalition focused on developing outdoor hospitality software.
Camping.care describes its platform as an all-in-one, AI-driven cloud system combining property management, online booking, payments, channel management, point of sale, self-service kiosks, rentals and more than 130 other applications. The company said its platform is used by more than 700 campsites and 4,500 users across 16 countries.
Molecaten is a family-owned Dutch leisure company operating holiday parks and campsites.
