Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia, is moving forward with plans to develop a multi-phased Safari Campground Resort.
As per a report, the expansion will include sites for RVs, cabins, and glamping, offering campers access to the comforts of home. The new development aims to provide parkgoers with a unique experience currently unavailable at the park.
The Lowndes County Commission recently approved the theme park’s updated site plan for the development. According to J.D. Dillard, the county planner, Wild Adventures officials are targeting a July 1 groundbreaking for the project. The Safari Campground Resort is expected to open in 2024.
A market study conducted by Wild Adventures has shown that the new campground is likely to be a hit with visitors.
The study found that around 4.4 million people are considered part of the target market, with qualifying interests in camping, animal experiences, or RV ownership. Approximately 90% of these households are located between 100 and 300 miles away, encompassing major markets like Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.
The Safari Campground Resort aims to appeal to a wide range of demographics, offering safari views from cabins and RV sites and VIP access to the park’s facilities.
Jon Vigue, vice president and general manager of Wild Adventures, further highlighted the project’s uniqueness in past interviews. He stated that by 2024, the park would provide a one-of-a-kind way for families to sleep under the stars and next to the animals at the new seven-acre campground adjacent to the theme park.
The full-facility campground will include amenities such as a camp store, a bathhouse, a fishing pond, walking trails, and opportunities for guests to interact with and learn about some of the park’s amazing animals. The development will further enhance the overall Wild Adventures experience and encourage more visitors to the park.
Glamping has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, offering a more comfortable and luxurious alternative to traditional camping. This trend caters to those who appreciate outdoor adventures but also desire some of the conveniences and amenities typically found in hotels or resorts.
By incorporating glamping into its expansion plans, Wild Adventures is tapping into this growing market and catering to the needs of a broader range of visitors.
