FMCA RV Association Introduces ‘Pathfinder’ Program for Prospective RV Owners

The FMCA RV Association unveiled a new membership category named “Pathfinder.” It aims to support prospective RV owners and ensure they are equipped with essential knowledge as they embark on their RV journey.

The need for such a program became apparent following a 2021 demographic study by the RV Industry Association. The study found that the United States is home to over 11.2 million RV-owning households, with an additional 20.5 million considering RV purchases. Recognizing the growing demand for pre-ownership education, the FMCA launched the Pathfinder program to assist these potential RV buyers.

According to the association’s news release, FMCA CEO Chris Smith highlighted their educational commitment.

“Throughout its 60-year history, FMCA has positioned itself as a leader in RV education. When we looked around the RV industry, we noticed that a void existed in terms of serving new people entering the lifestyle,” he said.

Smith added that while a wealth of information is available online, there appears to be a lack of reliable, singular sources. He explained that FMCA aims to fill this gap through its Pathfinder membership.

FMCA’s educational offering is extensive. It includes the bimonthly “Family RVing” magazine, available in both print and digital formats, and several e-newsletters such as “Mile Marker” and “Tech Talk.”

Additionally, FMCA University showcases an exclusive online repository of RV knowledge for its members. The association also hosts biannual events featuring approximately 100 RV-related seminar sessions, supplemented by practical driving lessons from the RV Driving School.

Pathfinder members pay an annual fee of $50 and gain access to all FMCA member benefits. While they do not receive a numbered FMCA membership emblem due to not owning an RV yet, they can fully upgrade their membership upon purchasing an RV.

FMCA, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a not-for-profit association dedicated to RV owners worldwide. With a membership nearing 125,000, the organization enhances the RV lifestyle.

Members receive a subscription to the monthly “Family RVing” magazine, access to a medical emergency and travel assistance program worth $200 per family, a tire purchasing program, RV and auto insurance, health insurance, and roadside assistance
