Wellen Park, the sixth top-selling master-planned community in the U.S., is significantly enhancing its outdoor recreational offerings. T
Three new parks and approximately 10 miles of nature trails are being added, strategically located near existing and future neighborhoods and Downtown Wellen.
These additions will complement Wellen Park’s already extensive trail network and existing parks.
Among the new features is a temporary Pop-Up Play Park, already open and designed for children 6 and under, featuring playground equipment.
Grand Lake Dog Park, scheduled to open in October, will offer a two-acre fenced space with canine agility equipment. Park 87, opening in early 2026, will feature a fire station-themed playground and multi-purpose lawn.
“Current and future residents spend a lot of their free time enjoying our existing parks, trails and outdoor venues, and they have expressed a desire for even more opportunities to connect with nature and experience being outdoors,” said Rick Severance, President of Wellen Park.
“We’re excited to offer new play areas and nature trails that will enhance the well-being of our residents and visitors, while fostering environmental stewardship,” Rick added.
The planned nature trails include Oakheart Nature Trail, a three-mile winding trail set for spring 2026, featuring shell paths and boardwalks.
Additionally, Buttonwood Trail, a 2.5-mile trail, is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.
This expansion underscores Wellen Park’s commitment to fostering community connections and enhancing quality of life. These new outdoor spaces will provide vital recreational opportunities, promoting well-being and environmental stewardship.
