Sunny Oaks RV Park to Expand with 60 New Premium RV Sites

In a move that underscores the growth of the outdoor hospitality industry, Sunny Oaks RV Park (Florida) has announced an expansion of its facilities. According to a press release, the popular Jacksonville-based park will be adding 60 new premium RV sites, designed to cater to the needs of today’s RVers and their big rigs.

“We are excited to embark on this expansion and elevate the standard of RV living in Jacksonville,” said a spokesperson for Sunny Oaks.

“Our goal has always been to provide our guests with a comfortable and secure base to explore the wonders of Jacksonville, from its pristine beaches to its vibrant downtown. With these new premium sites, we are not just expanding our park; we are enhancing the lifestyle of our community.”

This expansion aligns with the findings of the 2023 North American Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, which highlights the increasing demand for high-quality amenities and services in the outdoor hospitality sector.

According to the report, 61% of campers strongly agree that offering services and amenities beyond the accommodation or campsite is pivotal to qualify as providing outdoor hospitality. This underscores the importance of Sunny Oaks’ investment in premium facilities and amenities, such as paved roads, state-of-the-art bathhouses, and dedicated pet areas.

The report also reveals that the outdoor hospitality industry is quickly responding to the growing interest from travelers. Campgrounds are modernizing and expanding, new glamping offerings are emerging, and innovative outdoor-oriented accommodations are being introduced to the market. Sunny Oaks RV Park’s expansion is a prime example of this trend, as the park strives to meet the evolving expectations of its guests.

While camping remains the largest segment within the outdoor hospitality space, the report indicates a shift in the types of accommodations being utilized. For the first time since the inception of the survey, there was a drop in the number of camping households who used tents for their camping trips.

In contrast, the number of cabin and glamping campers more than doubled since 2021. This suggests that RVers are increasingly seeking out more comfortable and well-appointed accommodations, a trend that Sunny Oaks is well-positioned to capitalize on with its new premium sites.

Interestingly, the report also found that if money wasn’t an issue, half of tent campers would migrate to RVs (22%) or cabins (27%). Among those who would change accommodations are cabin campers who would opt for an RV. This highlights the potential for RV parks like Sunny Oaks to attract a diverse range of campers by offering a variety of high-quality accommodation options.

The expansion of Sunny Oaks RV Park is not just a response to growing demand, but also a reflection of the evolving needs and preferences of today’s RVers. As more people embrace the RV lifestyle, either as a way to travel or as a more flexible and affordable housing option, they are seeking out parks that offer the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and community.

For RV park operators, this trend presents both opportunities and challenges. On one hand, the growing demand for premium RV sites means that there is a strong business case for investing in upgrades and expansions. Parks that can offer the amenities and services that today’s RVers are looking for, such as reliable Wi-Fi, spacious sites, and modern facilities, are well-positioned to attract and retain customers.

On the other hand, these investments come with significant costs and risks. Operators must carefully balance the need to stay competitive with the financial realities of their business. They must also ensure that their facilities are adequately staffed and maintained to meet the high expectations of their guests.

Despite these challenges, the outlook for the outdoor hospitality industry remains strong. As more and more people discover the joys of RVing, and as the industry continues to innovate and adapt to changing needs and preferences, there is reason to be optimistic about the future.

The expansion of Sunny Oaks RV Park is just one example of how the industry is rising to meet this moment. By investing in premium facilities and amenities, and by creating a true sense of community for their guests, Sunny Oaks is setting a standard for outdoor hospitality.
