Florida Legislature Approves VISIT Florida Reauthorization, Florida RV Park & Campground Association Comments

Under Senate Bill 434, recently approved by the Florida legislature, VISIT Florida will get a five-year lease extension.

The House earlier this month passed a bill to extend the state’s public-private tourism marketing arm’s authorization in law to October 1, 2028. Senators initially voted for the expiration to be on October 1, 2031. However, upon the House’s approval of the five-year extension, the Senate voted 36-3 to extend the lease to October 1, 2028.

“This is an outstanding victory not only for VISIT Florida, but for Florida‘s camping and tourism industries, and the entire state,” mentioned the Florida RV Park & Campground Association in an email to its members.

Florida tourism continues to surpass pre-pandemic levels and set new visitation records as a result of VISIT FLORIDA’s marketing, and VISIT Florida’s reauthorization ensures they can keep delivering long-term success on behalf of all Floridians,” the statement added.

“This is the fourth extension for VISIT Florida in as many years, and I cannot understate how momentous a victory this is for everyone who made it possible. We are incredibly grateful to the Governor, Legislature, and everyone in our industry who helped get us here today. Your unwavering support and advocacy have ushered VISIT Florida into a new era of stability and strength, and we are looking forward to driving more record-breaking results for our tourism economy for years to come,” said Dana Young, president and CEO of VISIT Florida.
