Dometic Launches Mobile RV Repair Service in Florida

Some RV parks take the heat from campers when a refrigerator in their RV is in need of repair, but the campground couldn’t get a hold of an RV technician quick enough.

“[S]hockingly, campgrounds have actually received bad reviews because they couldn’t get a mobile service tech quick enough, and it’s not even the campground’s fault,” Jennifer Johnson of the Florida and Alabama RV Park and Campground Association told Modern Campground.

Things will hopefully get a little easier for parks through Dometic’s Mobile RV Repair’s expansion into Florida. The RV parts manufacturer and supplier aims to provide easy and convenient repairs while helping keep RVers out of the repair shop and back on their adventure.

Orlando first saw Dometic’s mobile repair, and the service will soon expand into the Tampa area beginning August 15, Dometic Service Director Jay Vaarre said in a Linkedin video posted by Johnson on July 20.

“We’re trying to make sure that customers who have Dometic problems on Dometic products can call us, and we’ll come out to you to fix it and make sure that you are having a good vacation and not losing time,” he said.

Dometic Service Director Jay Vaarree and Dometic Vice President of RV Aftermarket Business Michael McCaslin visited Florida yesterday, where they met with Johnson.

Besides consumers, parks will also benefit from the offering as it serves as an additional resource for campgrounds to provide to their campers, Johnson said. Through the service, certified RV techs will conduct on-site repairs and give technical advice to RV owners.

Johnson, who works with the Florida and Alabama RV Park and Campground Association for its RV dealer relations and special promotions, hopes that the partnership will pave the way for more campgrounds to collaborate with the RV industry side of the trade.

“The association’s goal is to make it more empowering by having the two more co-exist with each other […], and that is exactly what we’re doing […] with Dometic. And then we have some other ones that we’re working on as well,” Johnson shared.

Dometic recently signed up as a supplier member of the association.

For suppliers, being a member of a campground and RV park association means getting the exposure they need in order to reach more consumers. In the Florida association, for instance, suppliers are showcased in emails and social media posts.

Conferences play a huge role too. During the association’s Daytona Beach conference last month, Dometic was one of the 70 vendors who exhibited at the expo portion of the event. The company’s attendance helped bring traction as they connected with attendees, other vendors, and suppliers, said Johnson.
