Whether escaping the piercing winds of the winter months or basking in the warmth of the sun in the summer, RVers drive to the Sunshine State to enjoy all that it has to offer, but what do they do if the RV’s air conditioner breaks down in the middle of vacation?
Most spend the day waiting in dealerships instead of camping, said Deron Hoelle, the mobile service manager at Camping World Ocala.
“[I]f you’re traveling [and] you’ve got your site all set up […] you don’t have to tear everything down and come and waste a day in the dealership,” he said. “[Y]ou can come to us and we can take care of your needs right there at your campsite.”
While Camping World’s mobile RV repair service has been around for almost a year now in some Florida cities, Hoelle told Modern Campground that the service is expanding into the other portions of the state, such as the Ocala dealership, which services the Summerfield, The Villages, and areas within a 70-mile radius.
At the moment, there are 17 trucks in total servicing some parts of the Sunshine State, and Camping World Ocala has four service trucks with a fifth one on the way, Hoelle shared.
In spreading the word, the mobile service team is collaborating with campgrounds to promote the service. For certain parks like Wildwood RV Village Campground, Camping World Ocala’s mobile service team is offering special deals for referring them.
“If they got enough people [in need of service], we’ll stay down there for a day [and] we’ll waive mobile fees,” Hoelle said.
Even those who are not Camping World customers can avail of the service, he said.
Asked what offering such service can do for the industry, Hoelle said that it all boils down to customer service and how to help RV owners make the most out of their time.
“You’re getting your personal mechanic coming right to you and taking care of your needs right there on the spot,” he said, which then ensures that travelers are always having fun in sunny Florida.
“Especially if you’re on vacation, you don’t want to wait. You know, waste your day […] sitting in a dealership. You’d rather be out doing whatever it is you’re down here to do,” Hoelle told Modern Campground.
