All-Women’s RV Technician Class: Collaboration Between RVWA, Florida RV Trade Association

The RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) and the Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA) have joined forces to launch a second all-women’s RV technician training class in Florida. This new class will complement the five other classes scheduled for 2023 in Dallas, Texas; Tualatin, Oregon; Elkhart, Indiana; Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; and Jacksonville, Florida.

Scheduled for July 24-28, 2023, the second class will take place in Jacksonville, Florida. This initiative follows the success of the pilot all-women’s class conducted in August 2022, which garnered positive feedback, as per the News & Insights report of the RV Industry Association (RVIA).

In these week-long classes, students learn from the RV Technical Institute‘s (RVTI) comprehensive curriculum, acquiring expertise in seven RV systems: propane, plumbing, electrical, appliances, generators, body, and chassis. This training equips participants with the knowledge necessary for pre-delivery inspections.

Tracy Anglemeyer, the director of recruitment for RVTI, explained the decision to add another class. She said because of Florida’s need for technicians and the overwhelmingly positive response to the all-female technician class, “there was enough demand to add another session.”

Anglemeyer also noted the Florida RV Trade Association’s support, stating, “In addition, the Florida RV Trade Association stepped up to sponsor the class and, ultimately, help the state of Florida increase its number of trained technicians.

Susan Carpenter, president of the RVWA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying they are thrilled to establish a partnership between the Alliance and FRVTA for their “all-women RV technician class, marking a significant stride towards inclusivity and growth.”

She emphasized that the collaboration would “cultivate a diverse and skilled workforce, propelling the wheels of progress and innovation ever forward.”

Echoing Carpenter’s sentiments, Veronica Helms, education director of FRVTA, said by working together, they “can build a stronger tomorrow for the working professionals in the RV industry.

Enrollment for the new all-women’s RV technician class is now open. Interested individuals can apply via the provided link for the All-Women’s Level 1 Certification Class, taking place in Jacksonville, Florida, from July 24-28, 2023.

This initiative comes at a crucial time for the RV industry, which has experienced significant growth in recent years. With more people opting for RVs as a preferred mode of travel and accommodation, there is an increasing demand for skilled technicians to maintain and service these vehicles.

The expansion of all-women’s RV technician classes addresses the need for a more diverse workforce and aims to attract more women to a traditionally male-dominated field.

Furthermore, the collaboration between RVWA and FRVTA illustrates the industry’s commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment. By providing accessible training opportunities for women, the industry can tap into a wider talent pool, fostering innovation and progress within the sector.

This partnership is a positive step forward not only for the RV industry but also for the promotion of gender inclusivity in technical professions.
