Family Favorite Jellystone Park Sees Remarkable Revenue Growth in 2022

Heading into the 2023 season, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts celebrates its 16th consecutive year of revenue growth. With a nationwide presence across the United States and Canada, Jellystone Park has firmly established itself as a family favorite for camping, glamping, and outdoor entertainment.

A Record-Breaking Year

In 2022, Jellystone Park witnessed a 12.2% increase in total revenues, driven by a 2.7% growth in same-park sales.

This growth has contributed to a 55% revenue surge at the average location over the past two years, with park sales now surpassing $3 million.

Rob Schutter, president of franchisor Camp Jellystone, attributes this success to the hard work and dedication of franchisees who strive to provide families with unforgettable vacation experiences.

“Continuing to grow same-park sales in 2022, especially during such a challenging environment, was a major accomplishment,” Schutter said in a press release.

“Last year’s revenue achievement was the direct result of our franchisees’ hard work and their commitment to delivering families unforgettable vacation experiences,” he added.

Factors Behind the Success

A significant portion of the franchisees’ top lines came from ancillary revenues.

In comparison to 2021, golf cart rentals, retail store purchases, paid activities, and paid character experiences saw an 18% increase.

Cabin and glamping rental revenues grew by 6%, while RV site revenues experienced a 10% boost. The upward trend in these areas contributed to the overall financial performance of Jellystone Park locations.

New Locations and Expansion

Last year, the brand expanded its reach with nine new locations opening in Maine, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. Additionally, several parks have changed hands to new owners who are investing in innovative attractions, accommodations, activities, and character experiences.

This summer, the first Jellystone Park location in Utah is set to open, further cementing the brand’s presence in the outdoor hospitality industry.

A Focus on Family Fun

Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts are renowned for their family-oriented attractions and activities. These parks offer a range of fun experiences, from swimming pools and water slides to mini-golf, wagon rides, and foam parties. Park guests can also enjoy up-close encounters with Yogi Bear characters and a variety of glamping-style accommodations.

The success of Jellystone Park is indicative of a broader trend in the outdoor hospitality industry. According to Schutter, families are increasingly prioritizing outdoor experiences as cost-effective alternatives to other vacation options. The brand’s strong performance amidst inflationary pressures demonstrates its value to families seeking enjoyable and memorable vacations.
