Recap: Glamping Show Americas 2023 Sheds Light on Key Insights for Outdoor Hospitality Industry

The Glamping Show Americas 2023, hosted at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Colorado, on Wednesday concluded with a series of enlightening sessions tailored for glamping business owners, potential entrepreneurs, and the larger outdoor hospitality industry.

A significant highlight of the two-day conference was the release of the Glamping Americas 2023 State of the Industry Report. This pioneering research by Cairn Consulting Group offers an in-depth analysis of the burgeoning glamping niche within outdoor hospitality.

Day 2 and last day of the event, held yesterday, saw Jenny McCullough from KOA’s Terramor Outdoor Resorts share the intricate process of brand creation, emphasizing the significance of brand naming, messaging, and delivering a consistent brand experience. Her insights underscored the value of understanding and effectively communicating a brand’s essence to foster customer loyalty.

Kathleen Walsh, president of Advanced Outdoor Solutions, discussed the pivotal role of resort amenities in enhancing the guest experience. She highlighted that amenities, which often constitute a substantial portion of the construction budget, should be chosen based on their alignment with target markets to optimize guest satisfaction and profitability.

On the topic of inclusivity, Irene Jones of ARM, Marshall & Sterling, delved into the complexities of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). She stressed the importance of glamping resorts being accessible to individuals with disabilities. By adhering to ADA standards and best practices, glamping businesses can cater to a wider audience and ensure legal compliance.

Nathan Mayfield, vice president of ResNexus, provided insights into crafting effective pricing strategies for the glamping sector. By employing variable and dynamic pricing principles, and understanding peak seasons and offering special packages, glamping resorts can strike a balance between occupancy and profitability.

As the conference and expo concluded, the Glamping Show Americas 2023 served as a knowledge hub for the glamping and outdoor hospitality sector.

As the industry continues its upward trajectory, the insights from this event are poised to guide business owners towards sustained growth and success in outdoor hospitality.
