Outdoor Industry Association Announces Outdoor Retailer Education Sessions

The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has announced its lineup of education sessions slated for the Outdoor Retailer Summer in Colorado this June. According to the association, the sessions will help strengthen businesses in the outdoor industry, promote the outdoors, and protect the earth.

From June 9 to 11, members of the outdoor industry will be at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver to learn more about valuable topics to the community.

Kicking off the informative sessions will be retail expert Doug Stephens with a session titled “The Future of Retail in the New Era of Risk.” He will go into detail about some global risks that retailers face and how they can turn these into rewards.

Another OIA session will be on the New Mexico Outdoor Equity Fund and similar programs in the country. The session will highlight advocates and partners from other states working toward building an accessible outdoors for all through state-based equity funds.

Still on Thursday (June 9), Stephanie Maez, the executive director of Outdoor Foundation, will discuss the Thrive Outside Initiative and how the collective impact model helps drive equity and systems change in the outdoors.

Later that day, Kelly Davis, the director of research for OIA, will discuss business, participation, buying behaviors, and social trends and how they impact the outdoor market.

A breakfast session on retail and consumer trends hosted by The NPD Group will be held the next day. Following sessions will include repairing and growing customer retention; a look at the past, present, and future of public lands; and state outdoor business alliances.

On the last day of OIA’s education sessions, representatives from outdoor companies, Congress, and the administration will discuss how businesses can navigate uncertain times and work towards success.

Lastly, OIA’s senior director for sustainable business innovation, Amy Horton, will present some updates from the May 3-5 OIA Summit where outdoor business executives, community-based partners, policymakers, and other influential voices will convene to discuss issues and opportunities in the outdoor industry.

The Outdoor Retailer Summer will be from June 9-11 at Colorado Convention Center. To register, visit https://outdoorretailer.com/attend/register-2/.
