Colorado National Monument is set to implement an updated reservation system for the Saddlehorn Campground starting April 1, according to a press release. This update aims to enhance the reservation process by offering increased flexibility and expanding opportunities for first-come, first-served campsites.
Under the new system, all campsites, including those available on the same day, will be reserved through three distinct reservation windows. These windows are set six months in advance, two weeks in advance, and on the same day, accessible via recreation.gov.
This improvement is designed to accommodate visitors planning spontaneous trips by allowing reservations to be made two weeks in advance. It also aims to streamline the planning process for same-day visitors before they arrive at the park. In addition to these updates, the Colorado National Monument will extend the availability of first-come, first-served campsites to include A Loop for the upcoming 2024 season.
Under the revised system, same-day campsite availability will be released at 8:00 a.m. (Mountain Time) each day and can be viewed in real-time on computers or smartphones through the recreation.gov website.
For visitors without access to the internet, reservations can still be made by calling 877-444-6777. This marks a significant change from the previous system, where first-come, first-served sites could only be reserved in person at the campground kiosk. Following the April 1 update, in-person reservations at the kiosk will be discontinued.
The visitor center at Colorado National Monument provides complimentary Wi-Fi and operates daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Entrance to the park requires a fee of $25, but all Interagency America the Beautiful passes are accepted.
