Care Camps Foundation Receives Over 100 Portable Fridge/Freezers from Truma North America

Truma North America has donated more than 100 portable fridges/freezers to Care Camps Foundation to support pediatric oncology camps across North America. The donation aims to enhance the storage capabilities at the camps, which provide outdoor experiences for children with cancer and their families.

The donation includes over 100 Truma Coolers, each offering 105 quarts of refrigeration space. These units will be distributed to camps facing challenges securing sufficient refrigeration for food, drinks, and medications. Truma’s portable fridges/freezers are equipped with AC and DC power options.

According to a press release, the collaboration between Truma North America and Care Camps Foundation emerged after Truma’s team heard a presentation by Gwynn Sullivan, Care Camps Foundation’s executive director. The presentation inspired the company to explore ways they could contribute, particularly in on-site refrigeration. The company collaborated with the Children’s Oncology Camping Association (COCA) to determine which camps had the greatest need.

Gerhard Hundsberger, president and CEO of Truma North America, emphasized the positive response from the camps. “A majority of the camps expressed interest sharing that refrigeration space is one of the biggest hurdles they encounter, as many rent the facilities where they provide camps each year.”

Camps will receive two C105 Truma Coolers each, distributed on a rolling basis to meet the specific needs of each location.

Beverley Tidwell from the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern Arizona expressed gratitude for the donation. “As we all know, it can get really warm in Tucson, AZ, and keeping food and medications safe is a priority for us. We look forward to using the Truma Cooler during our programs,” Tidwell said.

Gwynn Sullivan of Care Camps Foundation highlighted the importance of partnerships in making this project a reality. She noted that Truma’s involvement exemplifies how companies can collaborate to support meaningful causes. “Our team thrives on creative collaboration with the camps we fund and the partners who make it possible. Truma is a shining example of how companies can give back,” Sullivan said.

Truma North America, headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, has a presence in the RV and outdoor recreation industry.
