Since its inception in 2006 (as Campground Automation Systems), the reservation software company CampLife has grown an impressive client base. The company will be celebrating its customers by offering gift cards or free services every 15 days for the entire year of 2022, per the press release.
CampLife will choose customers through a lottery and give them rewards with a variety of prizes. Expected rewards range from swag bags, donuts, and coffee deliveries to the staff at the park, and even the creation of custom rules for reservation systems. The 15-day cycle of appreciation is symbolic of CampLife’s fifteen years of creating new software and services developed by campgrounds, stated the announcement.
The company attributes its longevity to its customers’ feedback and working with them in creating the features that parks require. Rebecca Chapman of Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Camping stated: “When the pandemic hit and everything needed to be changed, CampLife was on it, offering features I hadn’t even thought of to help us all out. But really, the customer service is where it’s at. They’re always warm and friendly.”

The first CampLife product was self-service reservation kiosks that took credit card payments and wireless controllers to turn the utilities of the site on and off. The company’s founders Tyler and Jackie Duffy wanted to integrate the device into an already existing system for property management and asked park managers which systems they should be contacting. However, after hearing the difficulties that parks face with reservations software, the Duffys decided to stop seeking a partner for integration and decided to create the simple, rule-based online system that campgrounds require, according to the announcement.
Tyler Duffy, president of CampLife, stated: “Park operators are awesome. They contribute so much to the world by helping campers recharge and make lifelong memories. Think about all of the memories and fun times that have taken place in all these parks over the years. It’s still amazing to me that CampLife plays a supporting role in this.”
“Just this year, well over half a million reservations were booked through CampLife,” Duffy added. “Fifty-six million camper nights have been booked through our system since we started in 2006. That represents so many people making memories! So in CampLife’s anniversary year, we’re going to celebrate and thank the parks that make camping and our business success possible.”
More than 600 private, city, county, and state parks all across the U.S. and Canada use CampLife. The system’s online interface can be tailored to each park using an evolving rules engine, which Duffy declares is CampLife’s “secret sauce.” Features such as mobile check-in, digital signatures, documents storage, gate integration, SMS texting, and many more provide ease of use and help keep parks flexible. Additionally, dynamic pricing, site locking, remote metering, and an efficient POS can boost revenues.
“Our team really got into thinking up fun surprises for our parks,” said Duffy. “We have so much respect for what they do and have gotten to know many of them as friends over the years. Earlier this month, at the national show, customers would come to our booth just to chat and tell other parks to start using our software. It’s been an amazing journey to grow CampLife alongside campgrounds.”
