The Destination Glamping Resort: From Nashville’s Music Loft to Dadeville’s Natural Oasis

In the heart of Dadeville, Alabama, The Destination Glamping Resort stands as a testament to the dreams and aspirations of its owners, Skip and Rhonda Courtney.

With a history rooted in Nashville’s vibrant music scene through The Music Loft, the Courtneys have seamlessly blended their love for music with the serene beauty of Alabama’s landscapes.

The resort offers guests a unique glamping experience. Nestled on the shores of Sandy Creek, which gracefully flows into the picturesque Lake Martin, The Destination provides a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s no wonder that for two consecutive years, the resort has been recognized as a Best Glamping Spot in the United States by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award.

But what led the Courtneys from the lively streets of Nashville to the calm waters of Lake Martin? The answer lies in their previous venture, The Music Loft.

After creating this iconic space in Nashville and witnessing its evolution into a premier music showcase venue, the couple felt the call of a new adventure.

Their search for the perfect location to realize their dream of running a B&B or an old Inn led them to Dadeville.

“Rhonda and I had long dreamed of running a B&B or maybe an old Inn somewhere. Once I retired and we got serious about finding our dream location to spend the rest of our lives sharing with the rest of the world, we just weren’t clicking with any of the many properties we spent so many weekends driving to and tromping around on for hours and hours. Strangely enough, we ended up far away from Nashville and we are so glad we did! The Destination Resort is a beautiful piece of God’s green earth and so deserves the attention we have been giving it,” the resort’s website indicated.

From the meticulously designed 2-bedroom glamps that can house up to 6 guests to the cozy 1-bedroom glamps for smaller groups, every detail has been thought of. The safari tents, manufactured by the renowned South African company Canvas & Tent, offer a blend of luxury and nature, ensuring guests have a memorable stay.

Central to the resort is the Sandy Creek Lodge, the Courtneys’ residence, and the heart of all activities.

After nearly two years of successful operations, The Destination Glamping Resort is set to elevate its offerings with the introduction of specialized experience packages.

The inaugural package, a Women’s Wellness weekend scheduled for October 13-15, has already garnered significant interest, with half the slots filled. Revealed at a recent Dadeville Kiwanis meeting by owners Skip and Rhonda Courtney, plans for 2024 include a diverse range of packages, emphasizing community engagement.

Among the anticipated events are a couples retreat, a glamp block party, and the return of their popular live music events in September, with tickets available to the public at an accessible price point. The Courtneys believe these initiatives will further acquaint the local community with the resort’s offerings.

From the vibrant music scene of Nashville’s Music Loft to the serene beauty of Lake Martin, the journey of Skip and Rhonda Courtney is one of passion, dedication, and love for the community. As they look ahead to 2024, one thing is clear: The Destination is set to become an even more integral part of Dadeville’s landscape.
