AdventureGenie, Kampgrounds of America (KOA) and Open Roads have launched a Route 66 sweepstakes aimed at simplifying trip planning during the highway’s centennial travel season.
The campaign centers on encouraging travelers to plan a Route 66 itinerary using AdventureGenie’s platform, with automatic entry into a prize drawing designed to support road travel.
Travelers who build and save a trip are eligible to win a package that includes $500 in diesel fuel credits from Open Roads, a $500 campground stay with KOA, and additional gear and perks from participating partners.
AdventureGenie, which has been recognized as an official partner by the Route 66 Centennial Commission, is positioning the initiative around its AI-powered trip planning tools.
“This campaign is about removing the friction from planning a trip like Route 66,” Scott Lengel, CEO of AdventureGenie, said in a press release. “We’ve combined intelligent routing, campground discovery, and fuel planning into one experience so travelers can focus on the fun part—getting out there and exploring.”
Gina Leeper, president and CEO of Open Roads, said the partnership aligns with the company’s focus on improving the travel experience for road users.
“At Open Roads, we believe the journey should be just as rewarding as the destination,” Leeper said. “Route 66 is one of America’s most iconic road trips, and we’re excited to partner with AdventureGenie and KOA to help travelers explore it with greater confidence, convenience, and savings along the way.”
To support the promotion, AdventureGenie released seven pre-built “GenieTrips” along Route 66, including six regional segments and a full route spanning Chicago to Santa Monica.
Each itinerary is customizable, allowing users to adjust stops, pacing, and travel preferences within the platform.
The planning experience integrates KOA campground locations and Open Roads fuel tools, creating a single interface for route development, lodging, and fuel planning.
The campaign also reflects broader shifts in trip planning behavior, particularly for campground operators seeking earlier booking decisions and increased traveler confidence along high-demand corridors.
The sweepstakes runs from May 1 through June 1, with winners to be announced after the entry period concludes.
