UK Landowner Seeks Permission for Glamping Site Above Dingwall and Strathpeffer

A crofter is seeking permission to build a scaled-down glamping site above Dingwall and Strathpeffer (United Kingdom).

According to a report, landowner Kirk Taylor, who works at a small upland livestock farm, initially applied for four handmade sleeping pods at Heights of Fodderty.

In a revised planning proposal, Taylor seeks to build just two luxury pods, along with an associated wastewater treatment tank and soakaway located along the A834 and North Coast 500 tourist route.

The structures will be constructed off-site by Alba Bespoke Cabins, with individual parking provided. The project, as a whole, covers 2,010 square meters of land owned by Taylor in Kirkhill Croft with 43 square meters of floor space.

A site selection report prepared on behalf of the applicant confirmed the proposed site, 105 meters northwest of Broombank, as the most suitable of three potential locations.

The site will provide beautiful views of rolling hills over the Cromarty Firth to improve the development’s marketability.

A design document stated it would offer subtle and discreet countryside accommodation for short-break and weekend stays year-round. It would also create one full-time and one part-time job while contributing income to local shops, pubs, and other attractions.

The proposal will be considered under Highland Council planning officials’ delegated powers.
