Two holiday parks in Norfolk, England—Kelling Heath Holiday Park and Woodhill Park—have been awarded gold status by Green Tourism for their sustainability initiatives.
Owned by Blue Sky Leisure, the two sites were recognized for ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact, foster community engagement, and promote ethical practices within the tourism sector.
Sarah Richards, CEO at Blue Sky Leisure, highlighted the long-standing commitment of the parks to environmental stewardship in a report by North Norfolk News.
“The parks have been working on green initiatives for many decades now, so it is a real pleasure to be recognised at an industry standard,” she said.
“The teams are delighted with the outcome, having put in a lot of hard work and dedication to being green. Both parks continue to look at ways to work towards a greener future and inspire our guests to come on our ‘Green Journey’ with us while connecting to nature.”
Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Kelling Heath Holiday Park spans 300 acres of heathland and woodland.
Among its notable sustainability measures are a red squirrel breeding programme aimed at supporting native wildlife, waste sorting systems to divert refuse from landfill, and investment in eco-friendly infrastructure.
The site is supported by a countryside team operating under a rolling 10-year management plan focused on biodiversity conservation.
Woodhill Park, perched on the cliff-tops of North Norfolk, has also prioritized sustainability through reforestation efforts, wildflower meadow cultivation, and a strong recycling framework.
The park has transitioned to electric-powered operational vehicles and installed electric vehicle (EV) charging points for guests, signaling a broader commitment to lowering its carbon footprint.
Looking ahead, both parks plan to expand their environmental strategies by reducing single-use plastics, increasing recycling rates, and encouraging deeper guest engagement with natural spaces.
For outdoor hospitality professionals, the recognition of these parks underscores the growing value placed on sustainability credentials in the sector.
Operators aiming to enhance guest experiences while meeting rising environmental expectations can draw practical insights from Kelling Heath and Woodhill Park’s integrated approach to land management, conservation, and green infrastructure.
These efforts not only align with global tourism trends but also offer potential cost savings and brand differentiation in an increasingly eco-conscious market.
