Campervan owners have rated a campsite in North Wales as the joint best in the UK, while Eryri National Park has made it to the top 10 list. As campervan sales and hiring figures continue to boom, more people are discovering the freedom and flexibility that a campervan brings.
North Wales, particularly Gwynedd, has become a prime destination, with the region building its own French-style stopover sites to cater to this demand.
A new guide on the best places to go campervanning in the UK has given the region a boost. Eryri National Park has been named on the list ranking the best parts of the UK to take a campervan holiday.
This list from Select Van Leasing was based on various factors, including cost, the number of campervan-friendly campsites, the weather, and how Instagram-friendly the scenery is, as per a report by North Wales Live.
Eryri took third place as the most accommodating for campervans, with 66% of its campsites being campervan friendly. It also made the top ten list overall.
“Wales’ largest national park spans across 823 square miles and boasts stunning mountain views, scenic lakes and stretches of green rolling hills to explore on your travels – with plenty of places to stay over along the way,” a spokesperson said.
When it came to the best individual sites, as ranked by campers on Campsites.co.uk, a campsite in Gwynedd secured the joint top place, with a perfect 10/10 rating from visitors.
The site is Hendre Mynach Camping and Touring Park near Barmouth, which shared the top spot with Glengoulandie Camping and Caravanning, in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
Just a five-minute drive from Eryri National Park and 20 minutes from Barmouth Beach, the site is the perfect base to do everything from hiking to sunbathing. Whether you choose a grass or hardstanding pitch, relaxing scenic coastal views are to be enjoyed across the site,” said a spokesperson.
With the school summer holidays around the corner, these findings will provide a welcome boost to the campsite and overall camping sector in the region. The popularity of campervanning has the potential to bring significant economic benefits to the local area, supporting local businesses and contributing to the local economy.
The rise in campervan tourism also presents an opportunity for local authorities and businesses to invest in facilities and services that cater to this market. This includes the development of campervan-friendly campsites and stopover sites, as well as services and amenities that enhance the campervan holiday experience.
However, it’s important for campervan tourists to respect the local environment and communities. This includes following local regulations and guidelines, disposing of waste responsibly, and being considerate of local residents and other visitors.
North Wales and Eryri National Park have been recognized as top destinations for campervan holidays in the UK. The region offers a range of campervan-friendly facilities and stunning natural scenery, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a flexible and free-spirited holiday experience.
