North Norfolk Council Approves Redevelopment of Seacroft Camping Park

North Norfolk District Council has approved plans to redevelop Seacroft Camping Park in East Runton, Norfolk, following a proposal submitted by the Caravan and Motorhome Club in the summer of 2025. The redevelopment aims to expand the site and update several of its facilities.

The approved plans include adding five new pitches and relocating the existing play area while introducing a new multi-use games area (MUGA). The proposal also calls for demolishing the existing toilet block and replacing it with a new facility, constructing a site manager’s pod, and extending the bar and restaurant building located off Cromer Road.

In its planning documents, the Caravan and Motorhome Club stated that the redevelopment would “allow the growth of an established touring facility which makes a significant contribution to the local economy.”

The documents noted that the current play area is “in poor condition and causes numerous health and safety issues on site,” and that the updated play area would include a mix of new equipment. Similarly, the existing toilet block is “nearing the end of its life,” prompting plans for a replacement to offer a “more efficient arrangement.”

Council planning officers approved the application, indicating that “the proposed development will not negatively impact residential amenity and will not alter the character or appearance of the area, considering the extent of the work and the current screening.”

According to the Eastern Daily Press, several conditions were attached to the approval, including a restriction on the hours of use for the MUGA and play area, limited to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily to minimize noise disturbances for neighbors.

Seacroft Camping Park has operated near Cromer since the 1980s and currently features 108 pitches, including all-weather and grass options, along with amenities such as a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, and children’s play area.

The approval may serve as an example for other operators looking to modernize or expand facilities while maintaining community considerations, highlighting the importance of balancing guest experience, safety, and local regulations in long-standing sites.
