Largo Leisure Holidays has unveiled plans for a major expansion at Loch Tay Highland Lodges and Glamping Park in Perthshire. The proposed development, which includes new accommodations and facilities, is currently under consideration by the Perth and Kinross Council.
A Proposal of Application Notice was submitted to the council’s Planning and Placemaking Committee on November 13, with public consultation events scheduled for later this winter.
According to a report by STV News, the plans aim to enhance the site’s offerings with additional holiday and staff accommodations, a covered event space, and a classroom.
As part of the development, some existing units will be repositioned, and two new staff housing units will be introduced at the Milton Morenish location near Killin.
During the committee meeting, Highland Perthshire SNP ward councilor Mike Williamson raised concerns regarding potential environmental impacts.
He highlighted issues such as light pollution, sewage management, and sustainable landscaping, emphasizing the importance of measures to protect the local environment. Williamson also pointed out the presence of blue algae on Loch Tay, urging steps to mitigate further environmental harm.
“I understand there is significant blue algae appearing on Loch Tay and anything that could be done to mitigate against that would be quite welcome,” Williamson said.
“Finally, as part of the consideration could attention be given to potential increase in usage of sporting leisure activities on Loch Tay and the potential impact on residential amenity and the wider area?”
The public consultation events will be held at the Cruachan Farm Caravan Park’s restaurant, providing an opportunity for stakeholders and residents to voice their opinions.
The sessions have been scheduled for November 29, and January 13, running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both days.
