Eco-Friendly Glamping Development Promises Boost for Derbyshire Tourism and Local Economy

A proposal for a new glamping site near the renowned Calke Abbey in Derbyshire has been submitted, promising an integration of luxury outdoor living with environmental consciousness.

According to the application submitted by Rupert Whyte of Foremark Park Farm, this ambitious project aims to establish 11 glamping units, encompassing shepherd’s huts, bell tents, and tipis, amidst the serene landscape adjacent to Calke Abbey.

The South Derbyshire District Council is poised to decide on this proposal in the coming months. The site plan includes five spacious safari tents, five larger bell tents, and a singular shepherd’s hut, promising a diverse and upscale camping experience.

A standout feature of the plan is the inclusion of electric vehicle charging points, underscoring the project’s commitment to sustainability.

These glamping units are designed to be temporary and movable, ensuring minimal environmental impact and flexibility.

“The proposed site will not only offer a unique accommodation option in Ticknall and its environs but will also boost the local economy. We’re looking at a sustainable, nature-immersed experience for visitors,” said the applicant. The project is expected to drive increased footfall to local businesses, extending tourist stays and benefiting attractions, eateries, and other services.

The site will promote local businesses by offering their services to guests, including transport, shopping, dining, and more. This approach not only supports the local economy but also enhances the visitor experience.

This glamping venture stands out for its minimal construction impact and commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the countryside.

The thoughtful design aims to seamlessly integrate the glamping units into the landscape, providing a comfortable and enjoyable stay that respects the environment.

The proposal highlights the need for such accommodations in the area, catering to growing visitor numbers without compromising the region’s ecological or historical integrity.
