Tipperary Tourism Secures €29,766 to Expand Camper Site Network

Tipperary Tourism has secured €29,766 in funding to support the development of camper sites across the county. The initiative aims to expand holiday destination options and strengthen local tourism infrastructure.

The announcement coincides with the release of Tipperary County Council’s “State of the Season Report,” which summarises tourism trends from January to September 2025. According to the report, the county’s tourism sector performed strongly in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2024.

Several caravan and camping sites in the county are identified as key contributors to the sector, including Ballincourty House Caravan and Camping Park, Powers The Pot Caravan and Camping Park, Streamstown Caravan and Camping Park, The Apple Caravan and Camping Park, Parsons Green Caravan and Camping Park, and Glen of Aherlow Caravan and Camping Park.

At the first council meeting of 2026, the funding announcement was positively received, according to TiperraryLive. Councillor Richie Molloy highlighted the importance of basic infrastructure, stating that “public toilets should be a priority for site development,” reflecting a broader focus on improving amenities for visitors.

Tipperary Tourism is also encouraging local tourism businesses to become part of its growing network, which offers support and collaboration opportunities for operators of caravan, camping, and glamping sites.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, this funding represents a potential avenue to enhance facilities, attract more visitors, and improve the overall guest experience. Investment in basic infrastructure, such as sanitation, parking, and access points, is increasingly viewed as essential to remain competitive within Ireland’s tourism market.

This funding initiative also aligns with broader trends in outdoor tourism, where camper and caravan-based holidays have shown steady growth in recent years. For local park operators, engagement with county-led programs can provide both financial support and strategic guidance to capitalize on these trends.
