Despite an approved safety and sanitation strategy and great demand from visitors and exhibitors, an RV show at Messe Stuttgart was canceled as Germany’s Baden-Wurttemberg state government has extended COVID-19 measures.
According to a release, CMT cannot be held as scheduled on January 15 to 23 next year as the government has banned exhibitions and trade fairs at the current Alert Level II in Baden-Wurttemberg.
Roland Bleinroth, president of Messe Stuttgart, commented: “Since CMT 2021 was at least held in a digital format, we made intensive preparations in the last few months for an attended event in January together with all partners and exhibitors. The booked-up halls at CMT clearly show us that an exhibition platform is urgently required. At present, we will deliberately not hold a hybrid event. Apart from the fact that the focal points of CMT are the exchange of information, advisory discussions, and direct personal contact, the preparation time for an alternative digital format would now be far too short.”
In the meantime, interested parties can get information about businesses, products, and developments from the camping, tourism, and outdoor sectors in the exhibitor index on CMT’s website.
“For a good ten months, we have fought tirelessly for a successful CMT 2022 and developed new formats and key topics both for end customers and trade visitors,” said Guido von Vacano, a member of the Board of Management of Messe Stuttgart.
“For example, diving and snorkeling tourism would have been represented by Interdive for the first time at CMT. The current situation has had a devastating impact on everyone who passionately [organized] personal encounters. We are now looking forward to the next CMT. We would like to thank everyone who has accompanied us so far and will also continue to do so in [the] future,” said von Vacano.
The costs for all tickets purchased for the show will be refunded in the same method as they were purchased.
The next CMT will take place from January 14 through 22 in 2023.
