Saskatchewan Provincial Parks have officially opened for the camping season, announcing a range of new programs and features aimed at enhancing visitor experiences. The parks, known for their well-maintained facilities and beautiful landscapes, are set to provide a host of activities and events throughout the summer.
Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross expressed her enthusiasm for the new season. We are so excited to welcome visitors back to our provincial parks this summer, as Sask Parks kicks off an exciting season of events, activities, and new amenities for every type of camper to explore,” said Ross in a press release published earlier this week. She highlighted the parks as an affordable and accessible destination that offers opportunities for relaxation and outdoor activity.
This season, visitors to the parks can look forward to an array of new programming designed to enhance their stay. Among these new features are free, self-use Discovery Packs. These packs are filled with crafts and activities, aimed particularly at families, and are available for checkout around the province.
In an effort to keep visitors well informed and engaged, Sask Parks will introduce a new communication strategy this year. Visitors will receive a reminder email 72 hours before their check-in, providing details about the curated programming and events scheduled during their stay.
The season’s first event, Back in the Boreal, will take place on June 1, marking National Trails Day. It will be held in Meadow Lake Provincial Park and features a 10-kilometre guided interpretive hike on the New Branch Loop of the Boreal Trail. This event aims to offer visitors a deeper connection with the natural environment through guided exploration and learning.
In addition to the diverse programming, Saskatchewan parks continue to offer a range of trails suitable for all skill levels. For the 2024 season, an exciting new partnership has been formed with TrailCollectiv. With each purchase of an Annual Park Entry Permit, visitors will receive a free premium subscription to TrailCollectiv, enhancing their trail exploration experiences.
As the camping season begins, Saskatchewan Provincial Parks are ready to offer a memorable outdoor experience to all visitors. With the combination of new features, engaging programs, and beautiful landscapes, the parks are set to be a premier destination for camping enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
