Campsites are selling quickly at Grand River Conservation Authority (Ontario, Canada) parks for the upcoming season.
According to a report, as the camping season comes near, GRCA has been busy taking reservations since launching its campsite reservation system on March 15.
“More than 3,000 campsite reservations were made within the first hour of the GRCA campsite reservation system opening,” said Cameron Linwood, supervisor of Strategic Communications at Grand River Conservation Authority.
Linwood has mentioned that some great campsites and dates are still available, but the rush to reserve has meant that the availability of every GRCA parks is now limited on popular weekends.
This year, the GRCA campsite reservation system has been given an updated look, focusing on providing a better customer experience.
Visitors can create a new profile and explore campsites at GRCA conservation areas.
Linwood said that the parks are well-known camping spots during summer, and reservations have been consistent with the previous seasons.
GRCA is the second-largest campground operator in Ontario, with approximately 2,200 campsites in the Grand River watershed.
Eight of the GRCA’s 11 conservation areas provide nightly, monthly, or seasonal camping opportunities.
Camping reservations are available for each of the eight GRCA conservation areas that provide camping.
A limited number of group sites and pavilion reservations can be made by directly calling the conservation areas starting May 1.
Although the GRCA will be relaxing a number of COVID-19 restrictions this year, certain operational restrictions remain in place.
“Conservation areas will continue to manage day-use capacity, and guests will be asked to follow all local public health guidelines,” Linwood said.
Additionally, the swimming pools at the Brant and Byng Island conservation areas and the Elora Gorge Conservation Area splash pad will reopen this summer.
“From an afternoon at the beach to a hike through green forests, canoeing on a pond, or dropping a line to catch a trophy-sized fish, whatever guests are looking for in a camping vacation, they will find it at one of our conservation areas,” Linwood said.
GRCA’s online reservation system provides 24 hours of access up to mid-October when the camping season ends.
The GRCA’s website has a page that displays each conservation area’s status and provides real-time information on whether a conservation area is operational or has reached operational capacity for the day.
