The Town of Minnedosa has announced the appointment of Jason Hume as the new manager of the Minnedosa Campground for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Hume was selected unanimously by the town council following a hiring process that prioritized familiarity with the campground, operational expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the park’s facilities and services.
According to a report by the Hamilton Spectator, Hume’s responsibilities include overseeing park maintenance, managing reservations, supervising staff, and maintaining records.
In addition to the campground, his duties extend to nearby amenities such as the beach, cottage area washrooms, Tanner’s Park washroom, and the Florence Bold Memorial Spray Park.
The town emphasized the need for candidates who understood the campground’s operational and maintenance demands while also demonstrating knowledge of reservation software and bookkeeping.
“The committee had been seeking an individual who understood the campground and surrounding area while understanding the maintenance and groundskeeping needs of the campground and beach areas,” said Minnedosa Chief Administrative Officer Danniele Carriere.
Hume’s wife, Diane, shared that the couple had been frequent campers at Minnedosa Campground, and her husband applied for the position to make a positive impact on the park.
“He just wanted to be there and get things right,” Diane said.
The Minnedosa Campground features 169 campsites and 12 bathrooms. The town’s job mandate outlines a focus on providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for visitors while promoting the town as a recreational destination.
Hume will also be required to hire at least two staff members to assist in fulfilling these objectives.
Looking ahead, the campground is set to undergo redevelopment as part of a council-approved project aimed at improving facilities and enhancing the Florence Bold Memorial Spray Park.
“There will be updates to services throughout the campground and additional enhancements to the spray park,” Carriere said.
The two-year term agreement for Hume’s role extends through December 31, 2026.
