As outdoor hospitality providers, parks always strive to deliver the best possible service to campers. Next month, outstanding members of the Canadian outdoor accommodations sector will be recognized for their hard work and dedication at the 2023 Canadian Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (COHCE).
The Canadian Camping and RV Council (CCRVC), organizer of the annual event, has opened nominations for multiple awards, namely: Canadian Camping & RV Industry Person of the Year, Rising Star Award, Campground of the Year – Large Park, Campground of the Year – Small Park, and Supplier of the Year.
Nominations are now being accepted by the CCRVC and will remain open until the end of the month (January 31).
The criteria for nominations have also been announced by the national association in a newsletter sent Thursday.
Industry members who—over the course of their careers—have demonstrated “significant contribution” to the industry in their own businesses, volunteerism, and community outreach will be qualified for being nominated to be the Canadian Camping & RV Industry Person of the Year.
To be eligible for the Rising Star Award, criteria call for a campground member who has been in the business for no more than five years, is actively involved in the Canadian associations, and “demonstrates ingenuity and success in their business”.
Next are the Campground of the Year awards for large and small parks. According to the association, nominees must go above and beyond for their customers and offer great locations, services, and atmosphere.
Qualified parks for the Large Park category are Canadian campgrounds with 250 or more sites, while the Small Park category requires parks with less than 250 sites.
Last but not least is the Supplier of the Year award. Anyone who wants to nominate a vendor or supplier must take into account whether the said businesses are members who provide exceptional service and products to CCRVC members.

In recent news, the association also announced sponsorship availability for the virtual conference. During the event, sponsors have the opportunity to flex their products and services, participate in live sponsored sessions and roundtable discussion workshops, and request meetings with park owners.
The third annual COHCE, to be held virtually on February 15 and 16, will focus on quality educational content for all registered participants.
In a December interview with Modern Campground, CCRVC Member Services Coordinator Cara Csizmadia said: “In its third consecutive year, this event strives to deliver important industry content and valuable education opportunities for operators, staff, and those new to or considering entering the outdoor hospitality sector.”
The Canadian Camping and RV Council (CCRVC) is the national association representing campgrounds, manufacturers, and dealers across Canada. The group is comprised of the RVDA of Canada, the Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association, provincial campground owners’ associations, and private campgrounds across Canada.
