Luxury glamping with ensuite bathrooms is now available at Woodfordia (Australia), the home of the renowned Woodford Folk Festival.
Minister of Tourism Stirling Hinchliffe helped launch 20 permanent luxury glamping tents on the campsite on Thursday, according to a report by Moreton Daily.
Hinchliffe said that the State Government backed Woodfordia with AU$1.2 million from the Growing Tourism Infrastructure fund to rebuild better after the pandemic.
“Our investment in 20 new glamping tents with fixed ensuites and kitchens delivers the infrastructure to grow Woodfordia into a year-round, income-generating visitor experience,” he said. “By expanding into luxury camp stays for private functions and short holidays, in addition to the Folk, Planting, and Small Halls festivals, Woodfordia aims to attract 17,000 new visitors to the region.
“It’s predicted Woodfordia’s glamping evolution could deliver an extra AU$28.6 million a year for the Moreton Bay Region’s visitor economy.”
Each camping site accommodates four people and is now open after the Woodford Folk Festival’s return after the two-year Covid break.
“Construction of the glamping sites supported tradies and suppliers when they needed it most and created three new operational jobs,” Hinchliffe said.
Woodfordia Director Amanda Jackes said the glamping tents were in the shaded area close to Lake Gkula and the general store.
“The glamping tents will be booked for events ranging from the Woodford Folk Festival to the two-week Lake Gkula Camping period in Easter 2023,” Jackes said.
She said these camping tents would ultimately be open for bookings all year long during events and festivals, private functions, or temporary holidays.
She also said the accommodation is always a problem at Woodfordia The most recent event sold out all of our 120 bell tents of the highest quality, as well as the hotels with 250 tents for city camping.
Executive Bill Hauritz said It is fantastic that these tents are finished in time for guests to take advantage of. The COVID-related issues with supply certainly impacted our timeline, which is why we are happy to share these tents now with all of you.
Six days of Woodford Folk Festival returns on December 27, generating the equivalent of 2500 job opportunities for artists and arts workers in 27 venues around Woodfordia and contributing upwards of AU$25 million to the tourism industry.
