NRMA Ocean Beach Reopens Refurbished Safari Tents Ahead of Summer Holidays

NRMA Ocean Beach Holiday Resort on the New South Wales Central Coast has reopened its Safari Tents following a refurbishment, with bookings resuming ahead of the summer holiday period.

Reservations for the upgraded glamping accommodation opened on December 21, aligning with the start of the New South Wales summer school holidays, and the resort reported immediate demand.

The refurbished Safari Tents now include private bathrooms, updated interior furnishings and décor, refreshed outdoor living areas, and new canvas structures. Each tent accommodates up to four guests and features an outdoor deck with a barbecue, along with access to the resort’s facilities.

The property, located in Umina on the Central Coast, offers direct beach access, resort-style pools, playgrounds, a daily activity program operating seven days a week, and an on-site café.

The resort is currently promoting a midweek sale that provides savings of up to 30 per cent for NRMA members on stays from Sunday to Thursday. The offer applies across selected camping and caravanning sites, villas, cabins, and the newly refurbished Safari Glamping Tents. Bookings under the promotion must be made by March 2, 2026.

NRMA Parks and Resorts CEO Paul Davies said the refurbishment aligns with the organisation’s broader strategy to maintain and upgrade its accommodation portfolio.

“We are thrilled to reveal our revamped Safari Tents at Ocean Beach Holiday Resort following this refurbishment,” Mr Davies said.

“The immediate demand we saw when bookings opened in December demonstrates just how popular glamping has become with Australian holidaymakers, and we’re committed to ensuring our accommodation offerings continue to meet and exceed guest expectations,” he said.

“These tents offer the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and comfort, allowing families and couples to enjoy a unique coastal experience,” he said.

“The Safari Tents complement our broader portfolio of unique accommodation options at Ocean Beach, including the popular Glamtainer and beachside camping and caravan sites, giving our guests diverse and memorable ways to experience this beautiful Central Coast location.”

The Safari Tents sit alongside other alternative accommodation options at the resort, including the Glamtainer, a repurposed shipping container-style glamping unit, as well as traditional beachside powered and unpowered sites. The mix reflects a wider industry trend toward diversifying inventory to capture growing demand for hybrid accommodation that blends outdoor settings with higher amenity standards.

For outdoor hospitality operators, the refurbishment highlights the continued investment required to keep glamping stock competitive. The addition of private bathrooms and upgraded soft furnishings reflects evolving guest expectations, particularly among families and short-break travellers who may be new to camping but are seeking nature-based experiences.

Timed promotional campaigns, such as the midweek member sale running through March 2, 2026, also demonstrate how pricing strategies can be used to stimulate shoulder and midweek occupancy.
