Katarapko Campground in Murray River National Park Partially Reopens

After months of closure, Katarapko Campground in Murray River National Park, South Australia has partially reopened.

While camping is strictly prohibited for the time being, day visitors are welcome to enjoy the park’s facilities, including the Ngak Indau Wetland Trail, Craggs Hut Walk, and Kai Kai Nature Trail.

The individual secluded campsites located along the Murray River, Eckerts Creek, and Katarapko Creek offer shade and the opportunity to launch canoes.

Visitors are reminded to stay on existing built or graded roads and tracks, as driving or riding off-road or off-track is strictly prohibited and may result in a fine.

While dogs are not permitted in the camping areas of the Katarapko Campground, they are allowed on a leash in the Old Rodeo grounds area between Berri and the first bridge or creek crossing.

Visitors are encouraged to refer to the park map for further information.

The campground is accessible by 4WD or 2WD in dry conditions and is suitable for tents, camper trailers, and caravans.

Facilities include long-drop toilets, and it is important to note that no campfires are allowed during the fire danger season.

The Katarapko and Rodeo Trails are among the latest additions to the park, and more information is available on the website.

With 55 allocated campsites, visitors can look forward to an unforgettable camping experience in one of South Australia’s most beautiful locations.

The reopening of Katarapko Campground in Murray River National Park is a positive step towards the resumption of normal activities and the recovery of the tourism industry in the region.

As one of South Australia’s most popular camping destinations, the Katarapko Campground attracts many visitors each year, and its closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the local economy.

Secondly, the reopening of the campground provides an opportunity for nearby campgrounds and outdoor recreation facilities to attract visitors who may have previously planned to visit Katarapko.

With the increased demand for outdoor activities due to the pandemic, nearby businesses have an opportunity to showcase their own unique offerings and attract new customers.
